Initiated by the Juvenile Arthritis Foundation Australia (JAFA) and first released in October 2024, the Consensus Statement articulates the goal of reducing the current average delays in the diagnosis of juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) from 10 months to 10 weeks by 2030.
Since 2024, the Statement has continued to gain national support and is endorsed by 22 eminent health peak bodies and professional and consumer organisations. These include the RACGP, RACP, Pharmacy Guild, Pharmaceutical Society, RANZCO, Medicines Australia, Arthritis Australia and the Australian Rheumatology Association.
JAFA sincerely thanks all 22 signatory organisations for their support in this very worthwhile initiative and urges you to help us reduce pain and disability in children and young people with arthritis through earlier identification and referral of undiagnosed JIA.
